Chanel’s Paris-Shanghai Collection is Finally Unveiled

December 6th, 2009

Chanel’s chief designer Karl Lagerfeld finally unveiled his latest Métier D’Arts collection in Shanghai, entitled ‘Paris Shanghai’ on December 3, 2009. Why Shanghai in China? I think it mainly because that the Chinese’s hunger for luxury goods are growing. The show aims at teasing the consumers’ appetite even further. What’s more, Shanghai is a city in constant evolution, and a cosmopolitan theater to an extraordinary cultural boom. It is going be interesting to see how Karl tackles the oriental theme. Karl Lagerfeld is telling the story of Coco Chanel’s imagined voyage to China…

Karl Lagerfeld paid homage to Chinese culture by creatively increasing the opulence and diversity of the Chinese heritage from ancient dynasties to the new line of creations. The whole collection gives priority to tone with red. No matter classical 2.55 handbags or tweed coat or camellia accessories, they are all with exquisite detailing such as golden frilals on the coat or inwrought autograph of Karl Lagerfeld on the pocket guard of the handbag. All of them add surprise to the limited items.

Celebrities Zhou Xun and Carina Lau as well as many other fashionistas showed up for the stellar launch ceremony scheduled on a giant barge on the Huangpu River, near the famous Bund.

The whole collection are only sold in this boutique at the Peninsula hotel.
